In this session, we will be working on your project treatments. Bring the first draft of your main project treatments and your favourite film’s treatment. Also bring flash-cards (presentation cards) to the class for the cardwork. (If you cannot find them, prepare A6 or A7 size papers - each one filled with one scene from your treatment.)

Year 1: Scenario 5/10

In this class, all the students will pitch their projects. Bring your main project synopsises to class. Afterwards, students will learn to turn their synopsises into treatments. We will end the class with a writing workshop.

Next week we'll discuss Walter Benjamin's essay 'The work of art in the age of its technological reproduction'. Think about (and prepare an answer for) the following question:

What is lost and what is gained by the technological reproduction of art?

Year 2: Scenario/Transfer - Finals!

Congratulations! You made it. I am looking forward to watching your films.

All the students will present their work in 10 minutes and afterwards there will be a 10 minutes Q&A for each project. 

Your presentations should include:
  1. Your moodboard work.
  2. One photo or footage from our filming day, preferably directed by you. You will talk over your work.
  3. Your final one-minute film. After viewing it together, there will be Q&A.

Everyone will have 5 min moodboard and photo/footage presentation time + 5 min of film viewing and film presentation time + 10 min Q&A time (20 min in total).

Bring a copy of your films on a flash-drive. Bring one high quality photo camera for presentation and moodboard shootings (One camera would be enough for all the projects.)

Year 1: Scenario 4/10

Lecturer: Nur Özgenalp | Date: 24 November 2016, Thu 10.30.

In this class, everyone will introduce their main character and give a short presentation on their collage work. Bring your collage work and detailed character analysis.

In the second part of the class, we will start working on the main project synopsises. Bring your laptops or a notebook and a pen/pencil. Also, watch your favourite film  before class and bring it along on your laptops. Please bring me a copy of your chosen film on flash-drive.

Year 2: Scenario/Transfer 9/10

Lecturer: Nur Özgenalp | Date: 21 November 2016, Mon 13.00.

We will be in the editing room today. All the students will work on their project and finalise their editing. The room is booked from 13.00 to 17.00. Please upload your material to the editing sets before the class starts.

Reminder: It should be a one-minute film, excluding intro and end titles. Intro and end titles should be on black, with film title, student, class, year information and AKI ArtEZ logo. You can use diegetic sound and design your own effect or sound loops as Jan previously taught you. More details on the format will be given in the class. 

Year 1: Scenario 3/10

In this class, we will start developing our main project story. Our focus will be on the main character(s). We will do some collage work and character study.

Please bring your short story and your main character’s profile. Also bring visual printed material for your collage work.
